Meditatio: Meditation and Inter-Faith Dialogue

Meditation opens the common ground among all religions.

This experience is the transforming experience of human goodness and our potential for selfless action for others. For this reason, the World Community initiates events in the spirit of 'broad ecumenism' to promote dialogue and harmony, through the contemplative dimension of faith, among all religious traditions. For example,  the Way Of Peace which began after the John Main Seminar The Good Heart with the Dalai Lama is an ongoing series of dialogues between the Dalai Lama and Fr Laurence Freeman OSB. They have been held in India, the UK, Italy and Ireland.

The World Community co-hosted a meeting at York University (UK) exploring the common ground between Christianity and Islam.  Laurence Freeman was a keynote speaker at the World Parliament of Religions in Melbourne, Australia, in 2009. The Meditatio Seminar "Common Ground An Interfaith Dialogue" was held in Singapore and had the focus on the contemplative practice of religion and how the shared experience of silence in meditation can enhance inter-religious dialogue.
