Bere Island, Co. Cork, Ireland: 14-24 September 2011
Led by Laurence Freeman OSB
In response to many requests for longer silent retreats the first Community 10-day meditation retreat will be held in the peace and beauty of Bere Island in the mellow month of September. It will be led by Fr Laurence and will be an opportunity for meditators to go deeper as well as to share their spiritual journey with others on the same path.
Community and solitude, silence and sharing will blend in an atmosphere of quieter, calmer slower-moving days open to the presence of God in the beauty of nature as well as in the friendship of spiritual friends.
Bere Island is a small island with a population of 200, located at the entrance to Bantry Bay, near Castletownbere, County Cork, Ireland. It has a church, a Heritage Centre (where the main talks of the retreats are held), a small shop and post office, cafe and two pubs.
The natural beauty and peace of the island and the friendliness of the community living there make it an ideal place for retreat.
