Since the Big Bang 13 billion years ago everything has been changing. Until modern times change was slow, fearful and widely resisted. Now the pace of change has become uncontrollable rapid and destabilising. Yet spiritual wisdom has always urged us to an interior transformation which will lead to a change of lifestyle.
In this year’s retreat Fr Laurence asks ‘How can we balance our fear of change with the need for change?’ In the contemplative experience of stillness we discover what is both ‘ever-ancient and ever-new’. Meditation as a work of love dissolves fear, restoring hope and joy to the celebration of life. The Monte Oliveto retreat itself will again help to make this real in our own experience.
