A life-giving practice

(…) it is so important that we teach a contemplative practice to young people, to children when they are setting out on their journey of life, so that they have this, let’s call it a life skill. It’s a life-giving and life-transforming skill or practice. Or we could call it an art. No child today, that left school without knowing how to use a computer, you would say was really well prepared or well educated or well conditioned for life in the modern world. So in the same way, if we are not giving this art of prayer to our children we are condemning them and the next generation facing the huge problems that we have created, condemning them to a very difficult and perhaps even despairing future.
