This third level of consciousness is what we could call the brick wall. This is like the brick wall of the ego. And when we come to the brick wall, we are really meeting, in a sense, the source of all distractions, which is the ‘I’ thought, that little awareness of our self or self-consciousness that makes us feel separate from other people. It is a necessary part of our psycho-logical development, that we have an ego and that the ego should be healthy. But sometimes, the ego’s sense of being separate becomes unhealthy, excessive, and therefore becomes isolation. And this is where the problems begin. How do we break through this wall? This is what happens. Little bricks fall out of the wall, and we see through the wall. You begin to experience a spiritual dimension in our life in small ways, but it’s a big discovery. It’s maybe a small breakthrough, but it’s a breakthrough. And the really big breakthrough happens out of our conscious observation, you can call it the kingdom of God, and here at the frontier of our ego identity we meet a Guide, we meet the person of Jesus, and recognise him. Of course, we may have sensed and been aware of his presence at all of the other levels of consciousness, but here, a recognition takes place.
A recognition takes place
