When you sit down to meditate for the first time, you may find you get impatient and you feel restless and you want to get up and do something, and you think your mind is too busy, too noisy to be able to meditate today. But stay with it, do the work, keep returning to the mantra gently and faithfully, obediently. And then you will find that you move into another state of consciousness, another state of mind in which you are able to be without any irritable searching, as he says, or reaching for fact or reason. And you’re able to sit with the uncertainties of your life without feeling that your peace has been destroyed. You’re able to sit with the doubts that you have without feeling guilty or angry about those doubts
