It’s an amazing discovery, which is so simple that it is impossible to describe: when you are able to see something, to be in relationship with something, which previously you had fixed ideas about and now you are able to know directly, because you have been able to let go of those ideas, those judgments and those prejudices, those preconceived ideas. That is what meditation allows us to do in relation to ourselves, in relation to others, and in relation to God. The wonderful and deeply Christian insight into this is that that knowledge that arises from stillness, as we let ideas go, is love. It is only in love that we are able to know anything fully.
