Another example of enlightment from the Christian tradition, two moments actually that St Augustine describes in his autobiography in The Confessions. One is his moment of conversion when he’s sitting under a tree and he hears this voice, ‘Take and read the book.’ This was the turning point in his journey of faith, the beginning of his Christian faith. And then later in his life, when he was at Ostia, outside of Rome, with his mother (his mother was a great spiritual influence on him). As they were sitting talking about the faith they were both caught up in a moment in an experience of love and transcendence, and of the incarnational presence of Christ, beautifully described in The Confessions.
