I think that anyone who is following a contemplative path can appreciate the wonderful symbol of the Trinity. We find the basic elements of it in the teaching of Jesus not as a dogma that he was laying down, but as relationship. He’s describing what he himself experienced and he calls them Father and Spirit and Son. Even the way he describes, it is not rational or logical in the ordinary sense. It’s paradoxical. It’s right brain stuff not left brain stuff because the Son of God is also the Son of Man. The Spirit of God is also the Spirit of Christ. And Christ, in his deepest nature, is Jesus of Nazareth. So many paradoxes that we can’t get our heads around, but we live with, just as we live with many paradoxes in our personal lives.
