As soon as we begin to do the work of meditation, we realize it is what those early teachers of Christianity called “pure prayer”. Because what’s the point in doing all the other stuff, all the other prayers, all the other religious things, if we haven’t learned to pay attention? It just becomes another big ego-manifestation or distraction which is what religion can easily become.
