Self-knowledge, self-awareness is really the basis of our human development, as well as of our relationships with other people. Meditation touches something very deep, very central, very universal in us. It is more than a skill. It is more than a technique. I have been teaching meditation at the business school in Georgetown and here at SMU over the last few years. MBA students of course are very concerned about success, that is why they do the MBA, they want to be more successful. So they approach everything, and many of us do, with this concept of success. Right from the beginning, I’d like to reassure you that meditation is not about success or failure. It’s about practice – like all of the most important things in life. Sometimes you will succeed, sometimes you will fail, but you stay with it. Staying with it reveals a whole different, broader, deeper, more integrated understanding of meaning.
