So the ego does not exist in the original state of pure consciousness. The original state of pure consciousness is the source of the material world. It’s not that the material world produces consciousness, but the consciousness produces the material world. And that is the fundamental insight of course of the mystical wisdom, of all wisdom in all traditions from time immemorial. And it’s embedded in the heart of our Christian understanding of the world.
