The process of learning to let go of distraction

Simone Weil uses this idea of emptying. Kenosis is the Greek word that we find in the Jewish mystical theology. We also find it of course in the New Testament: God emptied himself in order to pour himself into the person of Christ, in whom the fullness of God dwells embodied. Then, what does God do while this process in time, our time, is happening? Because that’s what we are now experiencing. We are in this process of learning to let go of distraction, of virtual reality, we’re learning to be in the present moment, and we are trying to keep flies out of the picture. And we are in this process that takes time. We can’t speed it up, but we can become conscious and create the conditions and cultivate the conditions in which this fulfilment of the human being will happen, both in us as individuals and in humanity as a whole.
