Sometimes your meditation will be deep and calm and peaceful, and sometimes it will feel very disrupted, very turbulent, or very superficial, and at those times you may feel ‘that was a waste of time, it’s not working anymore, I want to get back to what I felt yesterday, and I am not doing it’. That’s a crucial testing moment, whether you are going to persevere with it or not. It’s like falling in love. The first few dates are wonderful. And then you start arguing about which movie you should go to see. Think about meditation as a relationship, relationship with yourself. As in any relationship there will be peaks and lows. The relationship itself is the thing that matters.
