As St John said, ‘We do not know what we will be like in the future, but we know we shall be like him, because we will see him as he really is.’ (1Jn 3:2). So to see God is part of this experience, the human essential human experience of divinisation. To see God is to become God. And if that sounds New Age, then think again, because this is what the Christian teachers have said from the beginning, that God became human, so that human beings can become God. So this is the most essential and wonderful fruit of this experience of perseverance, of fidelity, of staying with and in the journey.
