In this round table dialogue, Ilia Delio, a Franciscan Sister of Washington, DC and American theologian, along with Bishop Rowan Williams, British theologian and ex-Archbishop of Canterbury and Peter Russell, a leading thinker on consciousness and contemporary spirituality,  will explore Artificial Intelligence and the practical implications of a new integrated intelligence.Â

Ilia Delio, OSF, PhD is a Franciscan Sister of Washington, DC and American theologian specializing in the area of science and religion, with interests in evolution, physics and neuroscience and the import of these for theology. Ilia currently holds the Josephine C. Connelly Endowed Chair in Theology at Villanova University, and is the author of twenty books including Care for Creation (coauthored with Keith Warner and Pamela Woods) which won two Catholic Press Book Awards in 2009, first place for social concerns and second place in spirituality. Her book The Emergent Christ won a third place Catholic Press Book Award in 2011 for the area of Science and Religion. Her recent books include The Unbearable Wholeness of Being: God, Evolution and the Power of Love (Orbis, 2013), which received the 2014 Silver Nautilus Book Award and a third place Catholic Press Association Award for Faith and Science. Ilia holds two honorary doctorates, one from St. Francis University in 2015, and one from Sacred Heart University in 2020.

Bishop Rowan Williams has recently retired as Master of Magdalene College, Cambridge, and before that was Archbishop of Canterbury from 2002 to 2012. Â He has written widely on theology, spirituality and literature, and his most recent books include Candles in the Dark and (with Mary Zournazi) Justice and Love: A Philosophical Dialogue. Â He has a long history of engagement with WCCM.

Peter Russell is a leading thinker on consciousness and contemporary spirituality. He coined the term “global brain” with his 1980s bestseller of the same name in which he predicted the Internet and the impact it would have on humanity. He is the author of ten other books, including Waking Up in Time, From Science to God, Letting Go of Nothing and his most recent, Forgiving Humanity. His mission is to distil the essential wisdom on human consciousness found in the world’s various spiritual traditions, and to disseminate their teachings on self-liberation in contemporary and compelling ways.
