Over the last centuries, scientific research and technological development have been the prevalent instruments of human liberation, bringing forth increasing creative freedom to individuals and societies. But at the source of our technoscientific practice, there is the intelligence that lies at the origin of all scientific inquiry. I shall argue that we need urgently to focus on the axiological and creative dimensions of this intelligence to tackle the crises that our technoscientific societies are facing today.

Marco Schorlemmer is a research scientist at the Artificial Intelligence Research Institute of the Spanish National Research Council. His research is on knowledge representation and reasoning, multi-agent systems, and computational creativity. He also serves on the board of the âPaĂs Conscientâ association, which continues the âNational Plan for Valuesâ initiative launched by the Catalan government. Marco is a meditator of WCCM, leader of a university meditation group, and coordinator of the WCCM in Catalonia; he is also serving on the Meditatio Council as contact for Science & Technology.
