Trained in both theology and agricultural economics, the Mexican Jesuit Alex Zatyrka led the John Main Seminar (2020) on indiginous wisdom for our time. His familiarity with this source of wisdom has led him to see the ways that each culture expresses the different elements of its worldview in its own symbolic system. The differences between those cultural languages sometimes make it hard to recognize common elements of reality across cultural borders. One interesting exception, however, is the experience of unified consciousness.
Fr Zatyrka introduces an unexpected dimension to the theme of this series explore some of the narratives emerging from the original cultures of Mesoamerica trying to establish parallels in the narratives of other, more widely known, cultural groups and then try to explain what is the ground for these similarities.
