Our world is in big trouble. We won’t get out of this mess merely with more techno-scientific progress. Science and technology have often been regarded as a symbol of humanity’s progress towards more free and just societies. However, increasingly we see that while every new technology can bring benefits, it can also produce greater divisions and inequalities among people, and even threaten the life of our planet.
Every year we feel more intensely the need for a radical transformation of humanity which is necessary to change the course towards self-destruction that we are following. This radical transformation needs to be felt in every action we undertake. It must come from the intelligence that lies behind the source of all action. However necessary and attractive our scientific and technological innovations, they proceed from abstractions. There is a higher, more concrete origin of action and consciousness that underlies the creative power of reality itself. Any radical transformation of humanity must flow from this source if it is to serve the whole human family and its future.
