From 28 to 30 November, the WCCM Brazilian community held its national retreat at Itaici Monastery, in Indaiatuba-SP. The retreat was led by Dom Alexandre de Andrade OSB. The theme of the retreat was ‘The Risk of Living Together’ – this is a personal reflection from WCCM Brazil National Coordinator Sergio Peixoto Junior.
A weekend to learn to listen, to learn to follow God’s will in our hearts.
Like a garden with many trees and flowers, from a distance they all look the same, but up close we can see the unique beauty of each one on the surface. But beneath the surface, we are all rooted in the same soil, we have the same nourishment, the same source of life.
We meditate to open our eyes and ears to this truth. And if it is true in me, with all my faults and weaknesses, it is also true in others. This is the reality of the spirit, we need to awaken to this reality. In this way we will rediscover our unity.
In this profound unity, in the silence of God, we discover that our judgements are often wrong, our certainties are illusions, our differences are superficial. This is the risk of meditation, the risk of living together, the risk of truly loving, as He loves us.
Our deepest gratitude to Dom Alexandre for leading the retreat and for the inspiration he conveyed to us, to the team at the Itaici Monastery who welcomed us into their home, and to all who participated, sharing in the silence of meditation.
Until the next opportunity!
Sincerely,
WCCM Brazil
