“Election results don’t alter the laws of physics. The underlying science of climate change is the same today as it was yesterday, as it will be tomorrow.
“The reality remains that unless the world collectively steps up its efforts, the impacts of climate change will become increasingly severe and frequent and will be felt by an increasing number of people in all countries, including In the United States.
“The reality also remains that effectively addressing climate change presents economic opportunities for those willing to seize the moment, and acting early will save money in the long run.
“The reality is that there is no prosperous or safe high carbon future for anyone.
“We await the details of how the new administration intends to engage on international climate change issues, and what part—if any—it intends to play in the global imperative and responsibility to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050.
“If the United States were to turn its back on the Paris Agreement once again, it would be unfortunate. But the Agreement has proven to be resilient, and the task for the rest of the world would be clear—to step up and move forward.”
