Video: 24-Hour Meditation for Peace

The event 24-Hour Meditation for Peace was held from September 21 to 22 at Bonnevaux, France, and online. It was organized by WCCM and highlighted the power of silence and community for a better world. The initiative was led by Kevin Wittoeck, a meditator from Belgium and part of the WCCM team. He coordinated the opening session, which featured participation from:

  • Yuval Rahamim and Musa Al-Hattawi, members of The Parents Circle – Families Forum (PCFF), a unique organization comprising more than 750 Israeli and Palestinian bereaved families.
  • Anna, a nurse from Canada who worked in Gaza.
  • Mariah from Ukraine, discussing the meaning of meditation in times of war.
  • Music by meditators Jemima and Joseph.
  • Prayers by children in Arabic, Hebrew, and Ukrainian.
  • A reflection by Laurence Freeman.

The opening session was followed by 22 hours of shared silence from meditators around the world, who felt connected to Bonnevaux through a live transmission while lighting candles. Visitors could also join the Bonnevaux Community and share silence at the Barn for Peace in the world. This initiative will be repeated and will become part of the WCCM calendar.
