I am leading a retreat in Bonnevaux from 19th to 24th of November, this year. The theme is ‘The Marriage of Wisdom and Prophecy’.
In my search, I divide spiritual traditions into three categories:
One is the Wisdom Tradition, the other one is the Prophetic Tradition, the third one is the Nature Tradition.Â
Religions like Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism and Taoism, they all belong to the Wisdom Tradition and the religions like Judaism, Christianity, Islam and the faith of The Faith of BaháʼÃ, they all belong to the Prophetic Tradition and religions related to the American Indians or shamanic religions, they all can be put under, nature religions.Â
And, I want to present in this retreat that, Jesus Christ is the marriage of the Wisdom and the Prophetical, Traditions. And he is the bridge and also a peacemaker.Â
Â
And, it seems to me that the future of our spiritual evolution is really the marriage of these two important spiritual traditions. And this marriage took place in the person of Jesus Christ, 2024 years ago.Â
So this is also an invitation to Christians to understand the message of Christ in the light of wisdom religions and to grow in their understanding of Christ who can really break the boundaries and create one humanity and peace in the world. Thank you.

Brother John Martin Sahajananda, born in 1955, was one of the closest followers of Father Bede Griffith, who strongly influenced him. He is very much interested in Inter-religious dialogue, particularly between Hinduism and Christianity. In his next retreat at Bonnevaux, The Marriage of Wisdom and Prophesy, he will explore how each tradition has its unique blend between the prophetic and the wisdom.
