The first two days of World Youth Day were very intense for the WCCM group present in Portugal, led by Laurence Freeman. On Tuesday 1st August the day started with meditation and a sharing led by Fr Laurence, followed by flash mob meditation in a very noisy park at Miradouro Sao Pedro de Alcantara, in Lisbon. In the afternoon, participation in a prayer by Taize group and the welcoming mass at Colina do Encontro, with thousands of young people from all around the world.
In the second day two members of Laudato Si Movement visited the WCCM base, in front of Miradouro Sao Pedro de Alcantara. For two hours, the two groups exchanged experiences and it was clear the importance in balancing contemplation and action. In the afternoon the group visited the City of Joy.
