Volunteers are an essential part of what makes Bonnevaux – Centre for Peace – what it is. All ages and from all parts of the world, they share in the daily life and in its practice of meditation and hospitality. By welcoming guests and retreatants they also enrich their own spiritual journey by study, solitude, enjoying the life of community and making friendships that can last a lifetime.
Volunteers initially come for a month. Some may come to learn to meditate, others to deepen their practice and faith. Some stay on longer and many return regularly. The residential core community needs them to help Bonnevaux run happily and smoothly.
We are looking for someone who would like to come as a Coordinator for Volunteers. This person would need to understand and be committed to Christian meditation and feel part of the vision and values of WCCM. They will also need the skills and personality to work with volunteers, helping them serve and get the most out of their volunteer experience.
The position would be supportive to our leadership team, including the Director and the Community Coordinator as well as the Executive Director and Retreat Centre Admin team. Languages, especially French, would be an advantage although, as an international centre, our working language is English.
We would like this person to come to Bonnevaux for a year, possibly as part of discerning the possibility of joining the core community.
