Once we begin to sense the depth of being in ourselves, we then understand that each person we meet – the people we disagree with, people from different political parties, people of different races, traditions and beliefs, people we don’t like because we don’t like the colour of their eyes or we don’t like the shape of their face – everyone we meet is also this manifestation of an infinite depth of being. And then John Main says something very important, I think, for us today.
We can hardly dare to imagine what a society would be like where everybody was on the road to the realisation that being is mystery and that each of us possesses an infinite capacity, an infinite potential for expansion of spirit into the mystery of God.
