In his welcoming address at the 2nd World Meditation Day Forum in Seoul, South Korea (March 20–21, 2026), Rev. Cyprian Consiglio, OSB Cam., Secretary General of Monastic Interreligious Dialogue (DIM-MID), issues a compelling call for humanity to undergo a profound evolution of consciousness.
Drawing on his role as an international representative for Benedictine, Cistercian, and Trappist monks, Fr. Cyprian frames the forum’s mission within the urgent context of global “poly-crisis.”
The Necessity of Transformation
The Role of Spiritual Practice
Drawing from his own Christian tradition, Fr. Cyprian references St. Paul’s exhortation in Romans 12:2, “Be transformed by the renewal of your mind.” He notes that the original Greek word nous implies a faculty lying beyond mere sense perception or imagination—a universal consciousness connected to the divine cosmos. He suggests that spiritual traditions across the globe, from the Logos of the Stoics to the Chit of Sanskrit traditions and the Dao of China, point toward this same deep, shared wisdom.

Meditation and Consciousness
25 - 30 August, 2026 | Bonnevaux, France
In a world of theory, Fr. Cyprian invites us into the ascetical life—not as a burden, but as a practical path. Using the wisdom of the yoga tradition and Buddhist insights into the mind, we can begin to make sense of the transformation happening within us.
Fr Cyprian will be leading the retreat ‘Meditation and Consciousness: An Interreligious Perspective” in Bonnevaux, France from 25 to 30 August.
