Bonnevaux Celebrates St Benedict’s Day

Festive lunch outside of the Guesthouse

The Bonnevaux Community hosted a celebration of St Benedict’s Day on 11th July. A group of around 30 guests, mostly French, were welcomed by Father Laurence Freeman and the other members of the resident community for morning coffee outside the Abbey. They were introduced to the community members and learned about the contemplative lifestyle at Bonnevaux and the history of the place. This was followed by a quick tour of the Abbey, and Thomas Litzler showed them a little of the organic farm. A contemplative Mass was celebrated in the Barn, and the celebration concluded with lunch in a sunny spot in front of the Guesthouse. It was a special opportunity to celebrate the wisdom of St Benedict, hospitality, and strengthen the bonds with the local community.
