The first meeting of the new WCCM Guiding Council was held from 26 to 28 May at Bonnevaux. The Council’s work is to reflect on and provide guidance for our work of sharing the gift of meditation as a global community.
“It was an inspiring and creative gathering, in which we were all actively involved and which we all appreciated very much. I believe its fruits will be felt in our Community worldwide including our ideas for the theme for 2027, our decision to start a synodal, grass-roots consultation and pursuing the idea of a WCCM introduction to Contemplative Christianity,” said Laurence at the end of the gathering.
The following members attended this first Council meeting at Bonnevaux: Laurence Freeman (Chair), Sean Hagan (Vice-Chair – USA), Rowan Williams (UK), Sarah Bachelard (Australia), Kath Houston (Australia), Ana Fonseca (Brazil), João Correia (Portugal), Tayna Malaspina (Brazil), and Leo Correa (Brazil). Two other members who were unable to attend for personal reasons joined online: Barry White (Ireland) and Herman Van Rompuy (Belgium).
