Metanoia awakens profound and transforming self-knowledge. But, some will say, what has this got to do with my problems or the price of heating my home? Does it make any difference to how well I live in the world and the direction the world is travelling? It makes a difference. How we think about ourselves shapes how we think, act and feel. If we see ourselves as canonfodder (like the Russian conscripts) or consumer-algorithms (as people lining up all night for the new Apple phone), where is the wonder of life? Where is the love that springs from the wonder of self-recognition? Where is the wonder of recognising ourselves in others and to see one divine value and equality in everyone?
