The Spiritual Dimension

The interior dimension of religion relates to personal experience beyond our ego-consciousness and to conversion to a more meaningful and authentic life. It has many – countless – aspects from the obviously religious to the artistic and social.Often, religious people have excluded the physical, sexual and the material world from their spirituality. This is why many today claim to be “spiritual, not religious”.

Any practice that serves to open the inner room of spiritual knowledge may be called an aspect of spirituality. Modern people are starved of this in their culture. The first step to meet this need and to nourish our humanity again at the wells of wisdom is – meditation.

Like meditation, spirituality is global and local, personal and communal. It is a universal wisdom living at the heart of every authentic tradition.
